Imagery

Growing up, positive images of dark skin women, such as these, were very rare. This wasn’t seen as a beauty standard. We saw dark skin women like Whoopi Goldberg being called ugly or unattractive, and that made some of us believe we weren’t beautiful at all.

Fast forward to 2020, and we have a Miss Universe, who’s not only South African, but dark skinned. Such positive imagery is so important to the young black boys and girls that may be battling insecurities, and having people tell them they aren’t amazing.

Don’t let anyone tell you your dark skin isn’t beautiful, because it is all that and more! 🖤
